Daisy Ridley In Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Rey’s Jedi Training May Have Foreshadowed The Finale Of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Reddit has uncovered a striking parallel between Rey's Jedi training on Ahch-To and the finale of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a movie that really deserves to be seen twice – if just to watch the Holdo Maneuver in all its spell-binding glory.

Rian Johnson’s somewhat divisive sequel also boasts a smattering of callbacks to the Star Wars films of old, all the while containing Carrie Fisher’s final performance as General Leia Organa. She’s expected to feature at some point in Episode IX, though it’s unclear as yet what J.J. Abrams and screenwriter Chris Terrio have planned for Leia’s swan song.

Circling back to The Last Jedi, though, and one Reddit user has discovered what appears to be a neat parallel between Rey’s Jedi training and the final duel between Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker. Pay close attention to Daisy Ridley’s choreography and you’ll notice that it closely mirrors that of Kylo’s, as he lashes out at the ghostly Skywalker. Is it merely a coincidence? Or does this imply that Adam Driver’s sneering villain was monitoring Rey long before they became connected by the Force – a connection that was later revealed to be Snoke’s doing?

Who knows. But thanks to the folks over at Star Wars Stuff, below you’ll find a brief video outlining the similarities in Kylo and Rey’s technique, as the former’s Jedi training appears to foreshadow the final of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Surely it’s too similar to be a coincidence? Kylo Ren even slices right through Luke, just as Rey cuts through the rock – much to the surprise of the Ahch-To Caretakers. But what say you? As always, you can leave your own Star Wars: The Last Jedi theories in the usual place below.
