X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Gorgeous Dark Phoenix Fan-Made Posters Unite The X-Men

If the original release date had held, we would've had X-Men: Dark Phoenix on theater screens this November, likely meaning that the marketing for the movie would've been cranking up right about now. As it is, though, Fox pushed the release back to next February, so we shouldn't expect to see so much as an official poster for a while.

If the original release date had held, we would’ve had X-Men: Dark Phoenix on theater screens this November, likely meaning that the marketing for the movie would’ve been cranking up right about now. As it is, though, Fox pushed the release back to next February, so we shouldn’t expect to see so much as an official poster for a while.

Thanks to fan artist Fabio Rodrigues, however, we now have these awesome mock one-sheets for the film to whet our appetite with. As you can see in the gallery below, he’s created two posters for Dark Phoenix which assemble the entire cast together. Both put Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey at the center, depicted in her fiery Phoenix form, while the other major figure in the posters is Jessica Chastain, who’ll play the mysterious villain in the film.

The reason for the two posters is that we’re still not sure exactly what the title is. For the most part, it’s being referred to as X-Men: Dark Phoenix, as per the titling conventions of previous installments in the franchise. However, Fox unveiled a blank teaser poster at May’s Las Vegas Licensing Expo which suggested it was now called Dark Phoenix, perhaps in an attempt to follow the success of the standalone X-Men films like Deadpool and Logan

Either way, Rodrigues’ posters also depict the rest of the superhero team. As you’ll see above, there’s Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto) and many more. The artist imagines them in matching suits with large yellow X insignias, too. That’s not just conjecture on his part, either, as merchandise for the movie promises that this is very close to how the group will appear in the film.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set to undergo its extensive reshoots, which will allegedly cost an additional $10 million, this summer, before finally arriving on February 14th, 2019. At least, we hope that’s the case. Given how things have been progressing, though, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was hit with another delay.
