Nine will be fine, all in good time.
Or so says Mark Hamill, who took to Twitter (and Instagram!) just yesterday to announce that there are currently 532 days until the launch of Star Wars: Episode IX. Well, 531.
The Luke Skywalker actor has always been a pretty vocal proponent of Star Wars on social media, and has now updated his hashtag of choice from ‘#WaitForVIII’ to ‘#9WillBeFineAllInGoodTime’ to reflect the forthcoming finale to Lucasfilm’s Sequel Trilogy.
His co-star John Boyega (Finn/FN-2187) joined him in announcing the official countdown to Episode IX, and it’s fair to say that Star Wars mania is beginning to sweep the interwebs once more now that J.J. Abrams’ sequel is scouting for locations all across the UK. Cardington Airship Sheds is a safe bet, which tells us that Abrams and his team may be going full circle to revisit Yavin IV, the Earth-like moon that doubled as a base for the Rebel Alliance prior to their relocation to Hoth. Either that, or a trip back to Massassi Temple is on the cards.
All of this is yet to be confirmed, of course, but with filming expected to commence later this month, it shouldn’t be too much longer before eagle-eyed Star Wars fans catch a glimpse of what’s to come.
Both Hamill and Boyega will be reprising their respective roles as Luke Skywalker and Finn, and the former may well be reuniting with an old friend, too, what with the rumors that Billy Dee Williams is on the verge of returning as the ice-cool Lando Calrissian, a character played by Donald Glover for the recent Han Solo prequel movie.
Whatever the outcome, Star Wars: Episode IX is officially locked in for a release on December 20th, 2019.
