Frank Grillo Teases Crossbones’ Return In Avengers 4 Again

If you thought Infinity War was a crowded affair, just wait for next year’s Avengers 4.

Thanks to the fact that Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will more than likely be using time travel to journey back to the past and undo Thanos’ devastating actions, we’ve been hearing rumors of a whole bunch of dead characters showing their face again, including Frank Grillo’s Crossbones.

Having been originally introduced simply as Brock Rumlow, a sleeper agent of Hydra, in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, he ironically saw his screentime reduced when he finally emerged as a full-blown Crossbones two years later in Civil War. And, of course, he met his demise in the opening salvo.

Still, there are True Believers out there who’d like to see one of the Sentinel of Liberty’s greatest modern foes return at some point and sure enough, Grillo has been teasing another appearance for a while now. The latest bit of evidence for us getting more Crossbones comes from the actor’s Instagram feed, where he posted a photo of an action figure of the character along with the hashtags: #CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier, #CaptainAmericaCivilWar and #Aven………..

Obviously, there’s a good chance that Grillo’s just messing with his fans here, as he knows how badly we want to see him return to the MCU. But at the same time, like we said above, this is far from the first tease we’ve had of Crossbones showing his face in Avengers 4. We’d advise taking this with a pinch of salt for now, but in a universe which has seen characters defy death left, right and center, it’s totally possible that Crossbones could be revealed to have survived.

Maybe Captain America 4 could even introduce the Masters of Evil and bring him back as one of their members, as per the comics? Time will tell, but for now, we’ve got a feeling that Frank Grillo isn’t done with the MCU just yet.
