[SPOILERS] Didn’t Really Die In Ant-Man And The Wasp

Apparently that infamous final snap at the end of Avengers: Infinity War was an event of such colossal proportions that its dire repercussions can even ripple through into one of the more light-hearted entries in the MCU. Or at least, that’s what happened in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, and if you’re still looking to avoid spoilers on Marvel’s latest release, then you might want to stop reading right now.

For everyone else, let’s discuss the moment where Hope van Dyne, along with Hank and Janet, suffer the misfortune of being part of the half of the population that Thanos turns to dust. As mortified as we were were to see so many of our heroes disintegrate before our eyes in this same way at the end of Infinity War, it was pretty clear off the bat that most of these characters will somehow be returning for next year’s Avengers 4, and there’s no reason to think that the cast of Ant-Man and the Wasp will be any different.

Indeed, back in February, actress Evangeline Lilly confirmed via Instagram that Hope would be featuring in the next Avengers film. The following quote comes from a more innocent time, when we didn’t know that incorporating Lilly’s character in the movie, along with half the cast of Infinity War, would prove to be something of a complicated feat.

“I will appear in Avengers 4, not very much, so don’t get your hopes up. Not going to be a ton but I’m in there! And I’m proud to be in there, and I’m stoked to be in there.”

Granted, Lilly’s statement doesn’t explicitly rule out her character appearing via flashback or some other indirect means in the upcoming movie, but given the sequels that Marvel already has lined up in the aftermath, it’s clear that at least some of Thanos’ victims are going to have to get de-dusted, so why not Hope?

While Ant-Man and the Wasp didn’t leave Scott Lang in the best of positions either, we’re pretty confident that he’ll find a way out of the quantum realm when Avengers 4 arrives May 3rd, 2019. But first, we’ll be getting our introduction to Captain Marvel on March 8th.
