Not unlike the Winter Soldier before her, there’s a good chance Ghost will reappear for a future MCU movie further down the road. Or so says Kevin Feige.
Hannah John-Kamen’s elusive figure was initially introduced as the bona fide villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp, and her ties to the Quantum Realm ultimately help Scott Lang and Hope in their quest to save the wayward Janet.
But as the sequel’s mid-credits sequence proves, it isn’t long before Ant-Man and the Wasp are going the extra mile for Hannah John-Kamen’s mystery character, indicating that she may still have a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kevin Feige is certainly a big believer in Ghost, after the Marvel Studios president hinted at her next MCU appearance while speaking to Birth.Movies.Death:
In this case, the story was always – spoiler! – to keep her around. This was not the story of defeating a villain and everybody cheering. This is a different kind of villain story. When and where – in the tag, he mentions ‘his new Ghost friend’ – is something we’ll see.
Feige continued by drawing comparisons to Shuri (Black Panther) in that viewers walked out of Ant-Man and the Wasp wanting to see more of Hannah John-Kamen in action.
But there’s nothing better than struggling over the decision about what characters to bring into a movie, casting those characters, writing and putting them together in a way that works in the movie, and then have audiences go ‘we love them, when are we going to see them again?’ Shuri for sure is a great example of that. So with Ghost, it is, step one: complete. As for step two, we’ll see where we go with that.
After notching just over $76M in its opening weekend across North America, Ant-Man and the Wasp is currently hovering around $161M worldwide, and that total cume will no doubt continue to climb as the days wear on, so stay tuned.
