Captain Marvel Director Celebrates Production Wrapping By Teasing Carol’s Arrival

Even though technically speaking, Phase Four of the MCU doesn’t officially kickoff until Spider-Man: Far From Home, I can’t shake the feeling that Captain Marvel will usher in that new era of superhero-dom that Kevin Feige's always talking about. I mean, when you’re the first person that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) calls after Thanos (Josh Brolin) exterminates half of all life in the universe, you bet your ass there’s a good reason behind it, but I digress.

As you might’ve heard, Carol Danvers’ debut – which will serve as the first female-led solo feature in the MCU – wrapped production this past weekend, and Academy Award winner Brie Larson, who’ll be portraying the titular hero, took to her official Twitter account and celebrated her newfound freedom with a playful snapshot.

Now, Ryan Fleck, who’s sharing the director’s chair with Anna Boden, has followed suit. To commemorate the last day of principal photography, he posted an image of the shooting schedule, which reads “Day 75 of 75,” along with the caption: “We got next.” This is, of course, a reference to the fact Ant-Man and the Wasp opened stateside this weekend and Captain Marvel is the next MCU film on the docket.

Scheduled to fly into theaters on March 8th, 2019, Captain Marvel will be the twenty-first installment into the highest grossing film franchise of all-time – which just crossed the $17 billion threshold at the worldwide ticket booth, mind you – and marks the first time a female director has stepped behind the camera in the MCU, albeit with shared credit.

Regardless, just because it’s next up, doesn’t mean we can expect a trailer anytime soon. At least, that’s according to Kevin Feige, who recently stated: ”I think there’s still a few months on it.” We imagine it’ll be here at some point in the fall then and as soon as we get a confirmed date, we’ll be sure to let you know.
