Though they’re not separated by different studios, we’ve been repeatedly told that a crossover between Marvel’s movies and TV shows is not on the horizon. Let’s hope things change, though, as a Spider-Man/Daredevil team-up is the stuff fanboys’ dreams are made of.
The webslinger and the Hornhead have a long history of buddying-up in the comics. Peter Parker and Matt Murdock are two of the MU’s more streetwise, urban heroes and so they often crossover onto each other’s turf. If Marvel’s movie and TV divisions could coordinate, this would be easy to arrange in the movies as well. For instance, Daredevil’s investigations could lead him to Queens, or Spidey’s heroics could send him to Hell’s Kitchen.
But would the actors themselves be up for such a thing? Well, it sure seems like Charlie Cox would. Speaking during a panel at Las Vegas Comic Con, the Man Without Fear himself said that he’d love to team up with Spidey one day, even though he can’t see how it could happen.
“I have to be really careful here.” Cox explained. “I mean, I’m sure I can say this. And I’ll just preface it by saying that I can’t see how this would happen. Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. But I have no information to suggest that this would ever happen. But it’d be really cool to see…I’d love to do something with Spider-Man.”
Of course, this isn’t the first time the actor’s expressed interest in having his character join forces with Peter Parker, and in the past, he’s even suggested a storyline that could potentially be adapted. Speaking in an interview a few years ago, Cox said:
“There is a wonderful episode – issue of the comic – where Matt Murdock has to defend Daredevil – cause the public don’t know. So he has Peter Parker put on his Daredevil costume so he can sit in the dock.”
As we mentioned above, the fact that Marvel’s movie and TV divisions don’t seem to be able to co-ordinate makes something like this near impossible. I mean, when we can’t even get shows like Luke Cage and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to acknowledge the events of Infinity War‘s finale, there’s not much hope for a full blown crossover involving various characters from the two sides.
