First Poster For The Simpsons’ Next Treehouse Of Horror Special Arrives Early

Even though I've been a fan of The Simpsons for more than two decades, I must confess that I've somewhat lapsed on the show in the last few seasons. Sure, I stuck it out longer than some other folks, but I eventually had to concede that the A-material is long behind us.

Still, I’ll check out what my favorite animated family is up to from time to time, particularly whenever Halloween rolls around. As per usual, the creative team behind the series will be rolling out “Treehouse of Horrors XXIX” soon enough, and believe it or not, there’s already a poster circulating for it.

Thanks to the folks over at Indie Wire, we’re able to bring you this early look at a piece set to debut at San Diego Comic-Con later this month. Seen below, it gets across the idea that the anthology special will lampoon Jurassic World/Park, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and The Three Faces of Eve.

For more info, be sure to check out the synopsis provided:

Homer wins an oyster-eating contest against the mythical Cthulhu. Springfield is overrun by plant body-snatchers, Lisa finally snaps, and Mr. Burns opens a retirement home with some Jurassic upgrades.

Although I’m sure to have Cradle of Filth’s “Cthulhu Dawn” playing in my head during that particular segment, I’m quite intrigued to see how “Lisa finally snaps.” While it remains to be seen if she can rival Maggie’s sociopathy that’s been hinted at several times in the past, it should make for some interesting viewing, regardless.

Right now, “Treehouse of Horrors XXIX” has yet to be assigned an air date, but it’s probably safe to say that it’ll debut sometime in late October or early November as it has in years prior. Whether The Simpsons will be able to top last year’s effort is anybody’s guess, but we’ll be sure to tune in.
