Those who head out to theaters to catch The Crimes of Grindelwald in November will be in for a “darker, more rigorous” movie than its predecessor. That’s according to Eddie Redmayne, at least, lead star of Warner’s Fantastic Beasts prequel saga (for now) who issued a warning to Potterheads while speaking with Entertainment Weekly the other day.
Indeed, the actor’s comments arrive in good time; Warner Bros. is all set to light up San Diego Comic-Con tomorrow, July 21st, with Shazam!, Aquaman and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald. All three movies will likely receive brand new trailers, along with plenty of intel relating to their respective stories – stories that will no doubt capture the imagination of fans long into 2019.
Ahead of that, though, the studio’s now debuted this cool new art deco themed poster that you’ll see in the gallery below. With the main characters in the center and the supporting cast surrounding them on the four corners, it’s very well designed and certainly fits in with the film’s atheistic and tone. Especially since we know the sequel takes place, at least partly, in France, which is where art deco came from.
Set to be the second installment in a five-movie saga, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will look to cast a spell over Potterheads on November 16th, when Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), her sister Queenie (Alison Sudol), and the fiercely loyal Muggle known as Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler) will round out the colorful cast of characters, which is headed up by Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, Jude Law’s Albus Dumbledore and Johnny Depp’s Gellert Grindelwald.
And after that? Another three prequels set in the wider Potter universe, with each movie expected to take place in a totally different city. We’ve already paid a visit to 1920s New York, while The Crimes of Grindelwald is about to whisk viewers off on a Parisian adventure, so there’s no telling what Warner Bros. and director David Yates have in store for their “global story.”
