When Gillian Anderson was in Sydney, Australia promoting the new Johnny English film, one question that came up was about the possibility of a third X-Files movie.
Movie Hole reported that Sunrise’s Kylie Speer tweeted after interviewing Anderson:
“Just interviewed Gillian Anderson…she is super stunning in real life and said she hopes a new #X-Files 2012 movie will be out next year!”
Anderson’s actual statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter, was that there was talk about a third film being made, but there is no confirmation on who will be writing it. It’s just a rumor.
The Hollywood Reporter also reported that Anderson told the Australian morning show that there is also talk of a film that spoofs the hit TV show. Really?
Personally, I would like to see the franchise continue. It was a very good show, until season seven, and the first movie was pretty entertaining. But now, it just seems like Chris Carter wants to turn it into a meaningless cash cow.
