Moon Knight

Moon Knight Was Almost In Iron Fist Season 2

If there’s one thing that Marvel's Netflix initiative has excelled at, it’s making household names out of characters who were, for the most part, unfamiliar to the mainstream before they showed up in their current iterations. I mean, think about it for a second. Only Daredevil and the Punisher had really enjoyed major pop culture exposure in years prior, with Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones having been relatively unknown to those who didn’t read comics. There've been animated appearances here and there, true, but those are a little more "niche," so to speak.

I mean, think about it for a second. Only Daredevil and the Punisher had really enjoyed major pop culture exposure in years prior, with Iron Fist, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones having been relatively unknown to those who didn’t read comics. There’ve been animated appearances here and there, true, but those are a little more “niche,” so to speak.

But in the time since 2015, all that’s changed. So, naturally, one would assume that many others are waiting for their chance to shine, chief among them being Moon Knight. In fact, the hero with multiple personalities is someone whom folks have been asking for for a long time and as it turns out, he almost showed his face in Iron Fist season 2.

That’s right, Marc Spector almost made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut in the upcoming sophomore run of Danny Rand’s solo series. The news comes to us direct from showrunner Raven Metzner, who revealed on Twitter that adding Moon Knight into the second season came up a few times with the writers, though they ultimately decided against it.

While he didn’t go into any further detail than that, a darker hero such as Spector would certainly be well suited to the Netflix initiative, so it’s a shame that things didn’t work out here. That being said, Kevin Feige’s shown interest in having Moon Knight in the MCU on more than one occasion, so we imagine it’s just a matter of time really before he pops up.

Previously, the general consensus amongst Marvel lovers was that Jake Gyllenhaal would’ve been the perfect choice to play the role. Seeing as he’s already portraying Mysterio in Spider-Man: Far From Home, though, the part’s now free for someone else to be embraced by the fans. A few actors have already put their name forth, but tell us, who would you like to see bring Moon Knight to life? Let us know by dropping a comment down below.
