The first clip from Blake Lively and Chloe Moretz’ new film Hick has been released. Hick, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival later this month, is the second film from the young but highly praised director Derick Martini.

Martini struck onto the scene in 2008, with his direction debut Lymelife which stared Alec Baldwin, and was executive produced by Martin Scorsese. The first clip, which depicts Lively and Moretz sporting southern accents, gives us little plot detail but a synopsis that has been released for the film gives us a general overview;

The story follows a 13-year-old Nebraskan girl named Luli (Moretz), and her rough-going life on the road after she runs away from her neglectful parents to be taken under the wing of hard-living drifter Glenda (Lively).

Personally, I’m highly anticipatating this film. Lively and Moretz are fast becoming two Hollywood stars who have even bigger films on the way, Lively with Oliver Stone’s Savages, and Moretz with Scorsese‘s Hugo and Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows.

I’ve read the novel that the film is based on and it has a rich and powerful character base and story that, if executed as succinctly as the novel, could be a huge hit come awards season for Lively, Moretz and Martini.

Hick co-stars Eddie Redmayne, Baldwin, Juliette Lewis, Rory Culkin and Ray McKinnon and premieres at the TIFF on September 10th.
