Jurassic Park Returning To Theaters Next Month In Honor Of 25th Anniversary

Hold onto your butts: Steven Spielberg's original Jurassic Park movie is returning to theaters next month in honor of its 25th anniversary.

If you’re not particularly fussed about genetic hybrids and Isla Nublar being sent sky high, you’ll be pleased to hear that Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park movie is returning to theaters next month in honor of its 25th anniversary.

Not to be outdone by Harry Potter – for the record, Warner Bros. is planning a similar re-release for the Boy Who Lived, beginning with Cinemark’s anniversary event on August 31st – Spielberg’s classic blockbuster will light up the silver screen once more on September 16th.

A total of 500 theaters nationwide will host the special anniversary event, which spans for three days in North America, ultimately drawing to a close on September 19th. Tickets can be bought in advance through the official Fathom Events website. And given this is the first time Jurassic Park has played in theaters since ’93 – you know, aside from the 3D re-release of 2003 – you may want to secure your seats in advance so as to avoid disappointment.

As a wise old engineer once said, hold onto your butts…

Thanks to Universal’s recent overhaul, the Jurassic franchise is arguably more popular now than it’s ever been – even if Fallen Kingdom left much to be desired. Overstuffed and overblown were just some of the complaints leveled at Juan Antonio Bayona’s horror-tinged sequel, which still managed to pull in a staggering $1.28 billion at the worldwide box office in the face of sky-high expectations.

The studio is still planning a third and final installment in this current Jurassic trilogy, too, which will welcome Colin Trevorrow back to the helm. For Jurassic Park fans, though, things are about to get very nostalgic indeed, with the first anniversary screening expected to take place in exactly four weeks’ time.
