According to GWW, Leitch is now attached to direct the third movie in the series, though it should be noted that his involvement has yet to be confirmed by 20th Century Fox and, taking into consideration hearsay that the House of Mouse may shut down the entire operation, it’d probably be best to take this tidbit with a grain of salt, at least until we hear otherwise.

That said, earlier in the week, a new promo for the home video release of Deadpool 2 hit the interweb and seemed to suggest the foul-mouthed mutant would indeed be returning for a third outing. Not to mention that in December of last year, Disney CEO and chairman Bob Iger issued a statement in which he specifically mentioned the Merc with a Mouth and the probability of continued development, saying: “There may be an opportunity for an R-rated Marvel brand as long as we let audiences know what’s coming.”

On the flip side, Leitch has a rather full plate in front of him at the moment. The long-time stunt coordinator is currently knee-deep in pre-production on The Fast and the Furious spinoff, Hobbs and Shaw, and is gearing up for the motion picture adaptation of Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy’s The Division, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain. Therefore, if Leitch is indeed headed back behind the camera for Deadpool 3, don’t expect the threequel to enter principal photography for some time.

During the interim, though, you can catch Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds), Domino (Zazie Beetz) and Cable (Josh Brolin) in Drew Goddard’s (The Cabin in the Woods) X-Force, which, unfortunately, is presently without a release date. Though once that changes, we’ll be sure to let you know.
