Robin Titans

DC Universe Streaming Service Launch Date Announced

Undeniably teasing a much more brooding and brutal take on the Bob Haney and Bruno Premiami-created IP, DC dropped the first trailer for Titans at SDCC, but the promo - which even featured Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) dropping an F-bomb - found the fandom wanting.

Last month, DC put on quite a show at San Diego Comic-Con, which effectively allowed the comic book juggernaut to soak up the spotlight for a change.

What with the unveiling of the first Shazam! teaser, some unpolished Wonder Woman 1984 footage and the first Aquaman trailer, Worlds of DC took a giant step in the right direction. Although, not everything shown within Hall H went over as well as the rebranding.

Undeniably teasing a much more brooding and brutal take on the Bob Haney and Bruno Premiami-created IP, DC debuted the first trailer for Titans at SDCC, but the promo – which even featured Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) dropping an F-bomb – found the fandom wanting.

The series, which is expected to launch WB’s video-on-demand service, DC Universe, into the stratosphere, is presumedly gearing up for a premiere alongside the platform and, as luck would have it, we just got a much better idea of when that might be.

Earlier this evening, over on YouTube, the DC Universe Live Stream went, well, live, and the Kevin Smith-hosted event caught almost everyone off guard, as it was announced that the video on demand service, operated by DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Digital Networks, will officially launch on September 15th.

That’s right; DC Universe will go live in roughly half a month, which is a far cry from when we initially thought the streaming service would launch – not that we’re complaining, mind you. At the moment, it’s unclear what, exactly, will be available on the day of release, but assumedly, a noticeable portion of the content will be held back.

All in all, if you’re a DC fanboy, something is better than nothing, and if September 15th does indeed sound familiar, that’s because it’s Batman Day. I mean, what better way to celebrate the Caped Crusader then by taking a journey through his canon, right?
