Jessica Chastain may have wrapped principal photography on Andy Muschietti’s IT: Chapter Two, but Pennywise the Dancing Clown (Bill Skarsgård) is, evidently, still hard at work. Although it’ll be quite a while before the titular jester is shimmying and shaking again on the big screen, just yesterday, the malevolent entity was spotted in Port Hope, Ontario, perched atop a familiar landmark.
If you’ve read Stephen King’s 1986 novel, you’ll surely recollect that, at one point, Pennywise possessed a statue of Paul Bunyan, which he then used to terrorize Richie Tozier, who’ll be portrayed by both Bill Hader and Finn Wolfhard in IT: Chapter Two. If the below set photos are any indication, it seems that the demonic entity will indeed inhabit the giant lumberjack in the upcoming sequel.
Courtesy of Northumberland News, Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd was espied hanging out with the tall tale character – which, by the way, is the very first time he’s been observed on set – in full Pennywise prosthetic. There’s not much more to take away from these pics aside from that, but it’s nice to get a glimpse at the Dancing Clown regardless.
Scheduled for release on September 6th, 2019, Pennywise can certainly afford to lounge around on the set of Chapter Two, seeing as the monstrous bow of his 2017 feature ($123 million) will remain unchallenged for a while yet. Though The Nun‘s headed toward a huge opening weekend, it’ll come nowhere close to breaking the all-time opening weekend record for September, which is currently held by IT, and nor will Shane Black’s The Predator, but I digress.
IT: Chapter Two – which will pick up twenty-seven years after Chapter One – features Jessica Chastain (Beverly Marsh), James McAvoy (Bill Denbrough), Bill Hader (Richie Tozier), Jay Ryan (Ben Hanscom), Andy Bean (Stanley Uris), James Ransone (Eddie Kaspbrak) and Isaiah Mustafa (Mike Hanlon) as the adult version of the Losers Club, when they’ll come together once more to banish the evil Pennywise for good. Or so we hope.
