No doubt about it, Arrow has had some memorable big bads to call its own during the previous six seasons. No matter which you prefer, Malcolm Merlyn, Deathstroke, Ra’s al Ghul, Damien Darhk, Prometheus and Ricardo Diaz each brought something unique to the table. But as we head into season 7, we find ourselves in a different situation, for “The Dragon” is still in the wind.
This time, however, Diaz has other – and, perhaps, more loyal – folks backing him up in the form of the Longbow Hunters. Having previously been name-dropped at the tail end of season 6, these formidable adversaries have been confirmed to appear in the coming year.
As it turns out, the live action version of the group will be rounded out by Holly Elissa as Red Dart, Michael Johnson as Kodiak and Miranda Edwards as Silencer. Call me crazy, but those three just sound like people you wouldn’t want to cross paths with in a dark alley.
In fact, my apprehension may be warranted because, in a recent chat with TV Line, new showrunner Beth Schwartz said the trio will soon prove they are “in fact quite real,” and not some underworld myth. My guess is that they could be the catalyst for pulling Team Arrow back together, though we can’t rule out the possibility of them making a move on Oliver Queen while he’s still in prison.
Speaking of which, there are several baddies behind bars whom they could reach out to, namely Derek Sampson. From the look of it, Cody Rhodes may be sticking around for a few episodes this season, so that puts him at the top of our list for possible allies.
I guess we’ll find out for sure whether or not any of today’s speculation pans out when Arrow returns for its seventh season on Monday, October 15 on The CW.
