If you can’t wait to see the new Halloween from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, an opportunity to catch the sequel is available to be entered into.
Star Jamie Lee Curtis and the rest of the film’s production team have joined up with fundraising platform Omaze to offer fans a chance to see the movie on October 16th, one day ahead of its premiere in Los Angeles and three days before the movie’s released to the general public. According to the contest page, for the sum of $10, you can earn 100 entries for a chance to watch the film early. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and the contest ends on October 2nd.
While it’s tempting to enter, those interested are advised to take caution before parting with their money. Winners of each contest are randomly selected and, though the organization does claim to donate 80 percent of their proceeds to charity, this hasn’t been independently verified.
On the review website Pissed Consumer, users raged about mass emails sent from the service and one even claimed that the charity in question featured on a campaign had never heard of the Omaze service upon the conclusion of the fundraising event. But, as always, things like this are a matter of interpretation and opinion until they’re independently confirmed (we reached out to Omaze and will update this piece in the event they respond).
So, if you want to see Michael Meyers – the murderer, not the comedian – slash up the screen once again before the rest of the world, give this contest a shot. Or, if you can wait, simply buy a ticket and enjoy Halloween along with everyone else.
