The Batman Director Shares Photos From Batman ’66 Event

Writer-director Matt Reeves has shared a series of photos from the Batman '66 exhibit, featuring the Riddler, the Penguin, and Bruce Wayne's ride of choice.

We’ve waited an awful long time – too long, perhaps – for Matt Reeves’ take on the Caped Crusader, but it seems the writer-director is about to switch into full-on Batman mode.

Case in point: Reeves posted a bunch of photos from the Batman ’66 exhibit this past weekend (h/t ComicBook.com), where he got up close and personal with the Riddler, the Penguin, and the inimitable Selina Kyle.

Could it be that Matt Reeves is hinting at his own interpretation of The Batman? It’s unlikely, really, as the filmmaker merely paid a visit to the Batman ’66 exhibit. If nothing else, it’s refreshing to know that Reeves is finally beginning to tease his first foray into the crowded DC Extended Universe, even if it’s unclear whether or not Ben Affleck will don the cape and cowl once again.

All of these photos were originally posted on Twitter without a caption to be found…

It’s arguably one of the biggest unanswered questions in the comic book movie world at this very moment, as fans have spent months – if not years – poring over every little detail of Affleck’s life and résumé to deduce their own theories.

Sadly, it seems the actor has now checked himself into rehab, so it’s looking increasingly likely that Reeves will favor a younger actor for The Batman when all is said and done. If this is to really be the beginning of a new DC trilogy, casting a young Bruce Wayne certainly makes a lot of sense, while Matt Reeves can still honor the legacy of Batfleck by incorporating a series of flashbacks.

Chalk that up as conjecture for now, as The Batman is still a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, nestled in some dark and dank corner of the Batcave. As soon as we learn more, though, we’ll be sure to let you know.
