Venom Director All But Confirms Post-Credits Scene

Per Fandango, director Ruben Fleischer has essentially confirmed the inclusion of a post-credits scene in Venom. But what could it be?

Aside from Logan, there really aren’t many comic book movies that ship without a post-credits scene.

And while the director has been tight-lipped about almost every aspect of the movie, Venom‘s Ruben Fleischer has essentially confirmed that next month’s Spider-Man-less Spider-Man spinoff will have a post-credits sting, after all.

News comes to us by way of Fandango, where Fleischer stated that the decision to overlook an after-credits tease would only be a waste of potential, particularly for a movie like Venom, which will soon face the difficult task of launching an entire franchise of comic book adaptations – other projects percolating in development include Kraven, Morbius, Nightwatch and the Silver and Black movies. And yes, that’s movies plural, after Sony made the decision to split is female ensemble piece into two separate products.

So perhaps Venom will herald some form of tease for Silver Sable or Black Cat? Or perhaps the Jared Leto-fronted Morbius? Either way, a teaser is in the pipeline…

“I think it would be a mistake of any superhero movie not to stay through the credits,” said the director.

This is, after all, the beginning of Sony’s Marvel Universe, so it’s only fitting that Venom lays the groundwork for its inevitable successors. Exactly what Ruben Fleischer has up his sleeve is another question entirely, but with an early October release date locked in, it won’t be too long before we have the answers we so crave – including whether or not we’ll ever see the unrated version of Fleischer’s anti-hero pic, one which seemingly draws the performance of a lifetime from Tom Hardy.

Venom arrives on October 5th, and when it does, you may want to hang around after the credits roll.
