Bucky Barnes and Captain America

Here’s What Bucky Could Look Like As The MCU’s Next Captain America

Even though Avengers: Infinity War was by the far the bloodthirstiest Marvel film to date, killing off many of the franchise's most popular heroes, we imagine that next year's Avengers 4 will take out even more. One character in particular that we've been expecting to bow out of the MCU for a while now is Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, as the actor's teased his exit on several occasions already.

Even though Avengers: Infinity War was by the far the bloodthirstiest Marvel film to date, killing off many of the franchise’s most popular heroes, we imagine that next year’s Avengers 4 will take out even more. One character in particular that we’ve been expecting to bow out of the MCU for a while now is Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers, as the actor’s teased his exit on several occasions already.

If that does come to pass, then the Captain America mantle might be given to one of his best pals – Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes – as in the comics. But which one would it be? Well, most people like the idea of Bucky taking over from Steve, as the friends go back so long and Sergeant Barnes still needs to redeem himself for his past actions as a brainwashed assassin for HYDRA.

But how would the fan favorite look as the MCU’s next Cap? That’s a good question, and one we now have an answer to thanks to the art below, which imagines Bucky as Captain America. It’s not a far cry from Rogers’ version, but it does have us excited just thinking about the possibility of this happening.

If you ask us, Marvel’s definitely setting Bucky up to take on the mantel next. Again, it’s no secret that Chris Evans is on his way out of the MCU after Avengers 4 and considering how popular a character Cap is, the studio would be foolish not to jump at the chance to still have him involved, even if it’s with another person behind the shield.

That’s just speculation, of course, but given that this is exactly what happened in the comics, it’s not too crazy to think that we’ll see it on the big screen, too. Besides, Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky, seems to support the idea as well. The actor revealed recently that he’d love to take up the mantle.

“I mean, yeah I would love that one day, absolutely. I don’t know when that day would be though, and I just think…it would be a very different Captain America you know, you wouldn’t be able to have the same Captain America as you have right now because he’s a different guy.”

Tell us, do you want to see Bucky become the next Captain America? Make yourself heard down below.
