Thanos may have only eradicated half of all life from the universe in Avengers: Infinity War, but as the subsequent Ant-Man and the Wasp showed, that ratio was considerably worse for the family of Janet van Dyne, with the Wasp and her two parents both getting disintegrated in the film’s surprising end-credits sequence. Their sudden disappearances left Scott Lang in the tricky spot of being stuck in the Quantum Realm, where he may well remain until next year’s Avengers 4, but it is in this trippy place that the secret might lie for how the dusted could return.
While the Quantum Realm has been the subject of much speculation regarding how the Infinity War sequel may play out, this new Reddit theory suggests that the answer may have been hidden in plain sight. User Meme_abstinent observes how when Scott first ventures into the Quantum Realm, his environment seems relatively calm as he collects some energy to help cure his old foe Ghost. However, just as his friends start getting disintegrated, we begin to witness an influx of orange energy in his surroundings.
To stress this point, the user links to a video that sees the events of Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp unfolding side-by-side, and sure enough, it all seems to line up pretty well.
From here, Meme_abstinent suggests that this orange energy we’re observing could be the souls of the billions who were decimated in the Snap. This might even suggest that a journey through the Quantum Realm is the key to recovering all of these perished life forms.
While one orange light show isn’t a lot to go on in itself, it’s becoming increasingly clear that there’s far more to the Quantum Realm than meets the eye, with a recently released deleted scene hinting at some form of intelligent life residing in this place. And with Tom Holland previously letting it slip that Doctor Strange will also show an interest in the realm, you have to wonder what peculiar secrets Avengers 4 has to unveil when it hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
