The CW Releases First Official Photo Of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman

After a low-res image leaked online earlier today, we now have the first official photo of Ruby Rose as The CW's Batwoman to feast on.

The Arrowverse shows are about to return for their new seasons and the hype is palpable. There’s much to look forward to this year, for each series, but of course, the big thing that has everyone talking is the upcoming crossover event.

Aside from bringing back Superman (not to mention introducing us to Lois Lane, as well), it’ll also act as the introduction of Ruby Rose’s Batwoman, who’s set to have her very own show in 2019. How she’ll factor into things remains unknown at this point, but it looks as if The CW is finally ready to pull back the lid.

Earlier today, our first glimpse of Rose as the hero leaked online and now, the network has released an official, hi-res version of that photo. Admittedly, it’s more or less the same, but the one you’ll see below is a lot crisper and more glossy when compared to what we got from the leak. And again, Rose looks fantastic here and we’re loving what The CW’s done with her outfit.

As mentioned above, Kate Kane’s Arrowverse debut will occur in this year’s crossover, before all eyes begin to turn toward Gotham City, where Kane, a highly trained street fighter, attempts to snuff out the criminal resurgence. From what we understand, the solo series is still gestating in the bowels of development, with Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) and franchise architect Greg Berlanti on board to write and executive produce, respectively.

With that in mind, it’s hard to say what we can expect just yet, but however things turn out, the casting of Ruby Rose as Batwoman is no doubt a huge coup for the LGBTQ community, and further proof that The CW continues to leave its cinematic brethren in the dust when it comes to equality and inclusivity in the superhero genre.
