Final Game Of Thrones Scripts Reduced Core Cast To Tears

Sophie Turner, Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke have shared their emotional reactions to the final Game of Thrones scripts.

Not for the first time, the leading actors from HBO’s Game of Thrones have gone on record about the final scripts, and how they reduced everyone to tears.

Kit Harington (Aegon Targaryen) spoke first, telling Entertainment Weekly that it was only when he reached the final page, and the script read “End of Game of Thrones,” that he realized just how poignant this moment was, and how much he’ll miss Game of Thrones once it bows off the airwaves.

Via EW:

I walked in saying, ‘Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know’. What’s the point of reading it to myself in my own head when I can listen to people do it and find out with my friends? Every season, you read at the end of the last script ‘End of Season 1,’ or ‘End of Season 2.’ This read ‘End of Game of Thrones.’

Hailed as an intense and spectacular close to what is undoubtedly one of HBO’s best ever series, season 8 has all the makings of a landmark achievement – hell, it was almost spun into three summer blockbusters.

For Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark), though, reaching the final page of those top-secret scripts was “completely overwhelming,” to the point where she “had to take a walk for hours” just to clear her head. Yeesh. Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) echoed that sentiment, too, stating:

I turned to my best mate and was like, ‘Oh my God! I gotta go! I gotta go!’ And I completely flipped out… Genuinely the effect it had on me was profound. That sounds insanely pretentious, but I’m an actor, so I’m allowed one pretentious adjective per season.

Game of Thrones season 8 has been tentatively slated for a mid-2019 premiere over on HBO. And, yes, this really is it; the beginning of the end.
