Tessa Thompson Wants Creed II Director To Helm A Valkyrie Movie

After 2015’s Creed came out to commercial and critical success, director Ryan Coogler and stars Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson all went on to land jobs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And now that Creed II’s run in cinemas has got off to a promising start, Thompson has suggested that helmsman Steven Caple Jr. could be the one to give her Thor: Ragnarok character the standalone movie treatment.

Caple’s latest feature recently had a screening and Q&A at London’s BFI Soutbank, where the filmmaker was asked if he too might have some MCU work in his future, and according to Trailer Track’s Anton Volkov, Thompson chimed in to tell him to “direct the Valkyrie movie.”

Obviously, while the actress’s endorsement is nice and all, we’re still a long way off from such an idea ever becoming a reality, not least because a Valkyrie solo outing doesn’t even look to be on Marvel’s schedule at the moment.

Nonetheless, between the strong response received by Thompson’s character in Ragnarok and Avengers: Infinity War co-director Joe Russo confirming that she survived the catastrophic events of his movie, it feels like a safe bet that the studio has some plan in mind for the Asgardian warrior. There’s even been a fair bit of speculation that Valkyrie could be coming back in next year’s Avengers 4, with Thompson seen tagging along with her Thor: Ragnarok co-star Chris Hemsworth for the latter’s reshoots in Atlanta.

We’ll get some confirmation on that idea when the Infinity War sequel hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019, before Thompson makes another franchise debut in the new Men in Black on June 14th. In the meantime, Creed II is still in cinemas.
