Much like the comic books that spawned it, the Arrowverse hasn’t shied away from the multiverse concept. In fact, it’s allowed for us to meet alternate versions of our favorite DC characters, not to mention making it possible for Earth-1 heroes like Green Arrow and the Flash to team up with Earth-38’s Supergirl – even in the days when her home was internally referred to as “Earth-CBS.”
Interestingly enough, Batman has been name-dropped or hinted at on both Arrow and Supergirl, forcing us to think he exists in both universes. Hey, if we’ve met more than one version of Oliver Queen, then there’d have to be more than one Bruce Wayne, right?
Well, tonight’s installment of “Elseworlds” confirmed our suspicion during a conversation involving Kate Kane and Kara Danvers. Already, we knew of a Batman existing at some point on Earth-1 because, well, that’s where his cousin Batwoman lives, but Kara said something quite interesting herself.
Funny enough, she mentioned how Bruce is “frenemies” with her own cousin, Clark Kent, so that settles the argument of whether a Dark Knight exists on Earth-38. But whether or not he’s gone missing like his Earth-1 doppelganger remains a mystery. For all we know, the guy could be in his prime.
Regardless, I’m down for a possible team-up involving Batwoman and Supergirl down the line, or “World’s Finest,” as they’ve dubbed themselves. Actually, they may want to rethink the punctuation and go with “Worlds’ Finest,” to reference another DC book similar in name.
