Avengers: Endgame Directors Willing To Work With Marvel Again

Unless you happened to be a big fan of the 2006 Owen Wilson comedy You, Me and Dupree, chances are you weren’t too familiar with the names Anthony and Joe Russo before their involvement in the MCU. But having delivered one fan favorite after another in the series, it’s clear that the filmmaking pair could walk away after Avengers: Endgame knowing they’ve played a bigger role in the superhero saga than just about any other director.

Nonetheless, it seems that the brothers would be game for further collaborations with Marvel Studios once the MCU’s Phase 3 has been wrapped up, explaining to Business Insider that they’d work with the company in any capacity in the future:

“We love Marvel, we’ve had an incredible experience with them,” Joe Russo said. “It’s why we’ve made four movies in six years with them. They’re like family to us. I think they do a great job of separating ‘church and state,’ where we’re focused on the projects we’re focused on, and someone else will focus on those other projects.

“We’d work with them in any capacity moving forward, and we value as much as anything in our work life the quality of the people we’re around and quality of the life that we have when we’re working with those people, and that’s A++ when you’re working with Marvel.”

A couple of weeks ago, Joe Russo reportedly said that the two of them are done with superhero movies unless Disney is ready to make a live-action adaptation of Secret Wars. Based on the above comments, however, Russo probably wasn’t being 100% serious in his statement, but seeing how the MCU’s schedule for the next few years is starting to fill up, it could be a good long while before we ever see the Captain America: Civil War helmsmen direct another feature film in the franchise.

Still, with Marvel Studios expanding its dominion with Disney’s planned streaming service, there’ll surely be plenty of opportunities for the Russo Brothers continue their involvement in the brand, whether they’re serving in a directing or a producing capacity. That being said, the pair has already expressed an interest in working on another major Disney-owned franchise, but regardless of whether the Russos’ journey in the MCU is nearing its end, you can bet that Marvel fans will be remembering their names for a long time after Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
