The Flash Midseason Premiere Promo Teases Thawne’s Manipulation Of Nora

Had you tuned in for the "Elseworlds" crossover, you probably noticed an absence of trailers promoting each individual DC show's midseason premieres. Most likely, this was in an effort not to distract from the event's fluid storytelling, but now we're starting to get our hands on new footage.

Had you tuned in for the “Elseworlds” crossover, you probably noticed an absence of trailers promoting each individual DC show’s midseason premieres. Most likely, this was in an effort not to distract from the event’s fluid storytelling, but now we’re starting to get our hands on new footage.

Today, we’re going to discuss The Flash‘s comeback episode, or “The Flash & The Furious,” as it’s been titled. Whether or not it’ll be followed by “2 Flash 2 Furious” remains to be seen, but I think you’re getting my Tokyo Drift, regardless (sorry, I’ll stop now).

If you haven’t watched the promo found at the top of this article, then I suggest you do so immediately. Upon viewing it for myself, I was very much thrilled to see the shocking cliffhanger from episode 5×08 being picked up on. Long story short, we’re going to learn more about Eobard Thawne’s manipulation of one Nora West-Allen.

Viewers had been theorizing for weeks that the Reverse-Flash had somehow gotten into XS’ head in the future, so it was gratifying to have suspicions confirmed. On the flip side, your heart has to break for Nora because all she wanted to do was go back in time and meet her father, Barry.

Granted, the footage provided does confirm that we’ll be getting more of Cicada, but most of the antagonistic focus is placed on Thawne himself. It may take some time for us to learn the full scope of his plan, but it stands to reason he’s carefully thought out how Nora should change events circa 2018-19 to suit his interests.

Right now, no synopsis or photos taken from “The Flash & The Furious” have been made available, though it’s fair to assume those will arrive two or three weeks before the time of airing. After all, that’s been the standard M.O. for the network for as long as I can remember.

The Flash returns with new episodes on Tuesday, January 15 on The CW.
