Doctor Who Season 11

Doctor Who Fans Name “Rosa” As Season 11’s Best Episode

The numbers are in and Doctor Who fans have voted "Rosa" as the best episode of season 11, much to the surprise of no one.

Doctor Who season 11 served up one of the show’s most powerful hours ever with “Rosa,” which saw the TARDIS travel back to 1950s Alabama where the Doctor and her companions experienced the terrible racism that plagued the state at the time. It was a terrific episode on the whole, offering up an incredibly deft handling of a sensitive subject matter, and as expected, fans have now named it as this season’s best installment.

In a poll conducted by Radio Times, where close to 10,000 people voted, 31% chose “Rosa” as their favorite hour of Jodie Whittaker’s debut run, followed by “Kerblam!” and “Demons of the Punjab,” which picked up 15% and 11% of the vote, respectively. Rounding out the top 5 were “It Takes You Away” and “The Women Who Fell To Earth,” while last place went to “The Tsuranga Conundrum.”

You can see the full results via the link below, but RT’s poll is a mostly accurate representation of the quality of the various episodes that made up season 11, with “Rosa” clearly being the strongest of the bunch. And though it was an overall mixed rookie outing for Whittaker as the Doctor, it was certainly enjoyable.

Thankfully, then, we’ve still got one more hour to go, as Jodie and co. will return for the annual festive special. This year, however, it won’t be on Christmas but rather New Year’s – much to the dismay of fans. Still, it looks to be a fun adventure for the TARDIS gang and if the rumors are to be believed, we may even get to see some Daleks.

That remains unconfirmed for now, of course, but you’d be smart to tune in regardless as after it airs its New Year’s special, Doctor Who won’t be back on our screens again until 2020. At least we have incredible episodes like “Rosa” to rewatch in the meantime, though.
