Music legend Elton John announced earlier today that he is making a biopic about his life. The film will be called Rocketman, and will tell the story of John’s life through his songs.

Steve Hamilton Shaw, one of the film’s producers, assured that this will not be a traditional biopic.

“Rocketman’ will be a radically different kind of biopic. It will be as unique as Elton’s life, told in a non-linear and hyper-visual manner that will transport people through the many intense experiences, some wonderful, some not, that helped define Elton as an artist, musician and man.”

John’s partner, David Furnish, will also produce the film, while John himself will serve as the executive producer.

When asked who he wants to play himself, John said he either wanted Robert Downey Jr., or James McAvoy. While I’m not too sure about RDJ, John may not have a hard time getting McAvoy to take the role. According to Contact Music, the young actor told the John that he’d love to do it.

What do you think of James McAvoy as Elton John?
