Hawkeye in Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame Fan Art Imagines Ronin’s Full Costume

Say what you will about Hawkeye, but ever since his last MCU appearance in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, things have been going pretty badly for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, suggesting that the guy with the bow and arrow may be a lot more important to the team than many of us appreciate. Fortunately, Clint Barton is set to make a return in Avengers: Endgame, and he’s bringing a new style along with him.

Last month’s trailer for the Avengers: Infinity War sequel confirmed the old rumor that Jeremy Renner would be suiting up in the Ronin persona, and while the teaser offered a fleeting and somewhat dimly lit glimpse of this new guise, V2V Designs has taken to Reddit with their vision of the full outfit. Placing our hero against a dark backdrop filled with ominous clouds, it’s an impressive piece of concept art that seems pretty in line with the moody makeover that Anthony and Joe Russo’s next film looks to be going for.

Why exactly Clint thought it was time for a change in approach remains to be seen, but parts of the internet are practically taking it as a given that members of the character’s immediate family fell victim to the universe-wide Decimation that concluded Infinity War, granting Hawkeye the motivation needed to embrace his dark side.

The prediction sounds plausible enough, but whatever Marvel Studios has in mind for Clint in his next movie, it’s clear that Kevin Feige and his team have some big plans for the character, with various reports suggesting that the Hawkeye might even feature in his own TV series or solo film. Time will tell whether any such project is in the works, but first, we’ll find out how Clint fares in his latest guise when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019.
