Though writer Jac Schaeffer’s MCU debut, Captain Marvel, is still a couple of months away from reaching theaters, the scribe has evidently impressed her bosses at Marvel Studios enough to be hired as writer and showrunner for the upcoming TV series Vision and the Scarlet Witch.

The announcement comes to us via The Hollywood Reporter, who observe how the deal further strengthens Schaeffer’s connections to the Marvel brand, having previously worked on the screenplays for both Carol Danvers’ solo debut and the upcoming Black Widow movie.

As for Vision and the Scarlet Witch, the series was confirmed last month to be launching on Disney Plus later this year, making it one of the first Marvel shows to premiere on the platform. So far, details on the show remain scarce, though the spinoff’s very existence is arguably a spoiler for Avengers: Endgame after both title characters died in the events of Avengers: Infinity War.

Though it feels all but inevitable that Anthony and Joe Russo’s next film will somehow reverse the effects of the snap that wiped out half the universe – Wanda Maximoff included – Vision’s fate has long seemed more ambiguous. And while fans have offered plenty of theories for how Paul Bettany’s character may have survived his encounter with Thanos, Joe Russo put a bit of a damper on such speculation last November when he offered his assurance that Vision is indeed dead.

Of course, there’s always the possibility that Vision and the Scarlet Witch will be set at an earlier point in the MCU timeline, but we’ll likely receive some clarification either way when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019. In the meantime, you can decide for yourself if the show is in good hands when Captain Marvel comes out on March 8th.
