Speaking to Empire last year, director Chad Stahelski summarized the carnage to come with a list that included “Horses, dogs, cats, a raven, a bunch of pigeons, a motorcycle chase, car chase, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, shotguns, and ninjas.” And if asked to describe the recent preview, most of us would probably offer a similar stream of consciousness. Needless to say, the trailer gives us a lot to process, and in the flood of social media responses, we see a range of highlights singled out, from new cast members to unconventional chase scenes.

As you can see, Halle Berry gets a few mentions here, with much of the trailer’s final thirty seconds serving to introduce her deadly character into the mix. The Oscar-winner plays an assassin named Sofia, whose two dogs are said to symbolize someone she’s lost. And yes, that does sound a little familiar, but unlike poor little Daisy in the first John Wick, the trailer makes it very clear that this canine pair can hold their own in battle.

In any case, it only figures that the preview would be packed with so much activity seeing how Stahelski has mentioned previously that John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum will have the highest kill count yet of any series entry to date. And we’ll find out who in this international melee of human, horse, and dog makes the long list of fatalities when the film hits theaters on May 17th, 2019.
