Season 2 of The Punisher has paid tribute to Stan Lee in a touching way, though it may not be the only nod to the comic book legend that the show holds.

Stan Lee, one of Marvel’s greatest ever exports, passed away at the age of 95, leaving behind a treasure chest of comic book gold ranging from Spider-Man to Black Panther, Thor to the Fantastic Four. Almost all of those characters have been integrated into the fabric of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, too, which really only goes to show the longevity of Lee’s timeless creations and how cherished they are by people around the world.

And even now, various films and TV shows are finding ways to pay their respects to the man, with The Punisher season 2 being the latest. Though Stan wasn’t able to shoot a cameo for the series before passing, there’s still a touching little tribute to him to be found. It comes at the end of episode 13, when a message is displayed on screen that simply reads: In Loving Memory of Stan Lee.

From what we understand, there’s another easter egg relating to the comic book creator hidden somewhere in season 2 as well, though we’ve yet to find it for ourselves. Nevertheless, dedicating the entire run to Stan is a nice touch and yet another heartbreaking reminder that the legend is no longer with us.

But while Stan Lee may be gone, if one thing’s for certain, it’s that his legacy will continue to live on for years to come through his work in the comic book medium. And though he will always be missed, we can at least look forward to seeing his cameos in films like Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel. We’re unsure of how he’ll factor into those movies, of course, but it’ll no doubt be a very bittersweet experience watching him on screen in his final appearances.
