A couple of years ago, developer Saber Interactive and publisher Paramount Pictures revealed that they were working on a licensed video game inspired by the 2013 movie World War Z.

For those who don’t know, it’ll focus on 4-player co-op gameplay and boast a strong emphasis on online play (though going about things solo will still be an option). Furthermore, the perspective will be third-person, with a classic over the shoulder viewpoint, and we’ve been told that the zombie’s AI will be procedural, with their behaviors varying significantly.

Now, to whet our appetite a bit as we wait for additional information to surface, Saber has dropped a whole batch of new screenshots that tease some of the zombie carnage to come. Seen in the gallery down below, there’s quite a bit to feast on here and fans will surely appreciate getting another juicy look at the game.

From what we understand, the mission objectives themselves will primarily focus on saving survivors in famous locations around the world, like New York City, Moscow and Jerusalem. Additionally, the film’s iconic Korean airfield will also feature as a level/map for players to roam through.

But perhaps the most exciting thing is that World War Z will feature swarms of up to 1,000 individual zombies, which should make for some pretty intense and nail-biting gameplay experiences. And you’ll get to dive right in for yourself later this year when World War Z hits PS4 and Xbox One. An exact date for when it’ll be available still eludes us, but as soon as we learn more, we’ll be sure to let you know.
