Carol herself can be seen on the front cover looking ready for battle, while two of Brie Larson’s supporting players stand behind her. On her right, you’ve got Jude Law as a character whose identity has remained tellingly undisclosed, though much of the internet seems in agreement by now that he’ll be playing Yon-Rogg. Whatever his name is, you can see him in one of Empire’s new stills fighting alongside fellow Starforce member Bron-Char, played by Rune Temte. Also on the cover is Skrull leader Talos, played by Ben Mendelsohn, who shows up in one of the new stills accompanied by another member of his shape-shifting species.

Though we’ve seen a fair amount of footage of the Skrulls already, it’s nice to get a more detailed look at the texture of these designs, which seem to be layered pretty thickly on the faces of the actors. Last year, Mendelsohn remarked on how uncomfortable this costume was to wear in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, describing the mask as a “pig’s head,” and  it certainly looks like the makeup department has performed a pretty big job on the actor.

Regardless, Mendelsohn doesn’t spend all of his screen time in alien form, since the character will also assume the guise of a human who works as Nick Fury’s boss at S.H.I.E.L.D. From this position of authority, Talos may have access to some valuable information and powerful resources, including the coveted Tesseract, and we’ll find out just how much damage he can do before his cover is blown when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.
