Chris Hemsworth Helps Terminally Ill Fan Watch Avengers: Endgame Early

33-year-old Alexander Q took to Reddit earlier this month with a post titled “Dying Before April: My Endgame,” in which he inquired about the possibility of seeing Avengers: Endgame early since he wasn’t expecting to live to see the film’s April release. Alexander suffers from liver cancer, mouth cancer and bone marrow failure as part of a rare genetic condition that took the life of his sister three years ago. The Australian fan has been the subject of an ongoing social media campaign that’s quickly managed to get traction. In a recent update, Alexander said that he’d received hints that “that Marvel higher-ups are aware of me and are preparing something,” before adding that “because Australia is a small place, turns out I know a guy who knows a guy who is chums with Chris Hemsworth. I think they called him tonight on my behalf.”

Alexander has described his recent, unexpected fame as “pretty strange and getting stranger fast.” While some of his fellow Redditors have reportedly offered financial support to Alexander, he’s recommended that they instead donate their money to the the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund to support research for his genetic disease. The fan has also said via Reddit that he doesn’t mean to be “greedy” but was wondering if Disney can throw an advance screening of Captain Marvel into the mix as well.

In any case, it’s great to see that things are moving forward for Alexander, who’s reportedly promised not to spoil the plot of Avengers: Endgame for the rest of us once he’s seen it.
