Captain Marvel Promo

New Captain Marvel TV Spot Is Packed With Fresh Footage

The current buzz is strong for Captain Marvel, and if the impressive early ticket sales for Carol Danvers’ big screen debut are anything to go by, then Marvel Studios will have yet another hit on their hands. But while the promotion for the upcoming MCU flick has proven more than sufficient in getting filmgoers pumped, it seems that the studio isn’t done sharing new footage just yet, dropping a fresh TV spot that shows Brie Larson’s character opposite a young Monica Rambeau.

It’s expected that Monica’s mother Maria will play a larger part in the new movie than her daughter, with Lashana Lynch assuming the role of Carol’s old friend and fellow Air Force pilot. Nonetheless, with the film taking place in the ‘90s, it seems inevitable that Marvel Studios has a future mapped out for Monica that will most likely see her adopting one of her superhero personas from the comics, be it Photon, Spectrum, or in an admitted long shot for obvious reasons, Captain Marvel.

Elsewhere, the new preview shows a little more interaction between Carol and Nick Fury, the latter of whom will serve as one of a few familiar faces in the mix for Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s period picture. The filmmaking duo has previously compared the relationship between Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson’s characters to the playful pair-ups of buddy movies like 48 Hrs. and Lethal Weapon, though if the two of them get along so well, then you have to wonder why Carol and Nick fell out of contact for so many years.

This and many more questions will reportedly be answered when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.
