Next week, the conflict continues, and to get a taste of what’s in store, you can check out a sneak peek for the episode above. The tenth installment of season 9, the episode’s titled “Omega” and the synopsis – below – promises that we’ll find out more about the elusive Alpha (Samantha Morton), the leader of the Whisperers first introduced in tonight’s outing. Meanwhile, the search is on to find the missing Alden (Callan McAuliffe) and Luke (Dan Fogler).

“A new arrival at the Hilltop opens up about the leader of a group of mask-wearing savages. A search party sets out on a daring mission to find two missing friends.”

The new arrival that the synopsis speaks of is Lydia, Alpha’s daughter, who was kidnapped – or you could say rescued – by the gang after defeating a bunch of Whisperers. If things will roughly follow the comics from hereon in, expect Lydia to stick around as the character – potential spoilers here, folks – defects from her mother’s tribe and joins with the survivors.

That said, showrunner Angela Kang has promised that there’ll be many surprises to come in their adaptation of the original Whisperers storyline, so who knows what’s going to happen. Except that Samantha Morton’s said to be the greatest villain TWD has ever had. Based on what we saw of her in this episode, we’re definitely excited to see if she’ll live up to that bold claim.

Be sure to catch The Walking Dead 9×10 “Omega” next Sunday, February 17th.
