Deadpool 2 Unrated Version Is Coming To HBO Now

Deadpool 2 is a movie of multiple versions. First, there was the R-rated theatrical cut, which proved a hit with audiences and critics when it dropped last year, and has seemingly ensured that the Merc with a Mouth will have a future even beyond the Disney/Fox merger. What’s more, you have Once Upon a Deadpool, the divisive holiday season PG-13 re-release that the kids were allowed to go see. And at the other end of the spectrum, there’s the Deadpool 2 Super Duper Cut Unrated Version, which will soon be available to watch on HBO Now.

From Saturday, February 16th, you’ll be able to see the extended version of David Leitch’s film on HBO’s VOD platform. From its added suicide attempts to its baby Hitler scene, the Super Duper Cut boasts an extra 15 minutes of footage, much of it pretty dark, but some of it just added material that didn’t make the theatrical cut.

In any case, it currently feels like the future of the Deadpool franchise is looking a lot more like the Super Duper Duper Cut and a lot less like Once Upon a Deadpool, with Disney CEO Bob offering his assurance earlier this month that the company will allow Wade Wilson’s series to stay R-rated.

With that in mind, things are looking promising for Deadpool 3, with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick mentioning last month that they’re in the process of throwing ideas back and forth with Ryan Reynolds. As for X-Force, it’s been a while since we’ve heard of any progress being made on the Deadpool 2 spinoff, but while Wade’s own co-creator Rob Liefeld was ready to declare the project dead earlier this year, we may not know for sure until the merger comes into effect a few months from now.
