The project will be helmed by Todd Phillips and penned by Scott Silver, who previously collaborated on the standalone Joker movie that’s headed for cinemas in October. The biopic will be produced by Phillips and Bradley Cooper under the Joint Effort banner, and a deal for the project is reportedly in the midst of closing with Netflix.

As you’re likely aware, Hulk Hogan is one of the all-time biggest names in wrestling, proving to be a major pop culture figure in the ‘80s who used his fame as a springboard for further work in film and television. In recent years, however, the Hogan story has been fraught with drama, including a lengthy legal dispute with Gawker that ultimately led to the company filing for bankruptcy.

Instead of trying to tackle the messy entirety of Hogan’s life, it’s said that the biopic will focus only on the wrestler’s rise, and has been described as “an origin story of the Hulkster and Hulkamania.”

Though the details on the project don’t go much further than that, a Hulk Hogan biopic should at least grant us the privilege of seeing Hemsworth in a handlebar mustache. In the meantime, the actor will be teaming up with a very different Hulk when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th, 2019, before Hemsworth makes his debut in another major franchise when Men in Black: International comes out on June 14th.
