One that we’d want to see more than anyone else is Phil Coulson. Clark Gregg’s loveable S.H.I.E.L.D. agent hasn’t been seen on the big screen since he was murdered by Loki in The Avengerseven though his death turned out to be temporary and he was resurrected to lead Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And while we will see a past version of Coulson in Captain Marvel, considering that he was there right at the beginning in 2008’s Iron ManEndgame‘s celebration of the MCU just wouldn’t be complete without him.

So, what does Gregg say about the chances of an appearance in the fourth Avengers flick? Well, TV Guide spoke to the actor at the TCA winter press tour and the star gave a brief but intriguing answer, teasing: “In the world of Marvel anything’s possible.” It’s far from a confirmation or even a proper answer, really, but it’s not an outright denial and we’ll take what we can get.

If nothing else, Gregg’s statement reminds us how Coulson’s Marvel history has been anything but predictable. As we mentioned above, this March will see him return to the big screen in Captain Marvel, which will take place in the 1990s. Plus, the character just died again in the AoS season 5 finale, only for the season 6 trailer to tease that he’s not finished on the show yet – even if he’s gone all Winter Soldier and has amnesia.

In any case, you can see Coulson back where he belongs when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 6, meanwhile, arrives this May and as for Avengers: Endgame, all will be revealed on April 26th.
