Sons Of Anarchy actor Ron Perlman has revealed that he may be joining Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. Perlman is close with del Toro, after having starred in the director’s Hellboy films, so this casting choice does kind of make sense.

Plus, Pacific Rim will star Perlman’s Sons Of Anarchy co-star, Charlie Hunnam, who said that he owed getting the role in Pacific Rim largely to Perlman, who introduced Hunnam to del Toro.

Perlman was asked “Are you going to pop up in Pacific Rim, the new film by your buddy Guillermo del Toro and starring your Sons Of Anarchy cast mate, Charlie Hunnam?” to which Perlman replied:

“I sure hope so. I am not at liberty to give that notion any credence nor am I denying it. I can only say, “I sure hope so.” Only time will tell. And, at some point, there will be an announcement that Ron is – or isn’t – in that movie. [laughs] “

This is potentially fantastic news for the project and for Perlman. I am a huge fan of Perlman, Hunnam, and Guillermo del Toro, so the possibility that they could all be part of the same project, let alone del Toro’s alien invasion epic, has me very excited.

Pacific Rim stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Max Martini, Clifton Collins Jr. and also has Willem Dafoe in talks to take on a role.

It is scheduled to begin shooting in the first quarter of 2012, for a release on July 12th, 2013.
