Captain Marvel Fans Are Angry Over How Nick Fury Loses His Eye

Captain Marvel finally revealed how Nick Fury loses his eye and, well, the fans are exactly happy with how it goes down, and understandably so.

“Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye.”

That’s Nick Fury there, giving Steve Rogers a personal anecdote during the throes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. It’s a little throwaway line that naturally spawned more theories than we care to count – this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe we’re talking about, after all – but now, at long last, we’ve finally learned how the fan favorite character came to wear his eyepatch.

As expected, Captain Marvel identifies the culprit responsible for Fury’s missing eye, and the answer has practically been right there in front of us for a while now – especially if you’ve been watching every trailer, promo and TV spot put out by Marvel Studios over the last few months. And though folks are generally happy to finally learn the secret of what happened to Nick’s eye, not everyone’s pleased with what Kevin Feige and co. came up with for why he doesn’t have it anymore.

In fact, already fans have taken to Twitter to express their thoughts on the reveal, with some finding it pretty humorous but a lot of people just being outright angry that this is what they chose to explain the missing eye. And below, you’ll find just a sampling of how the fans feel about it.

If you ask us, what the film presents is definitely a pretty underwhelming explanation for what happened, especially after so much build-up. But as evidenced above, not everyone feels that way and by all accounts, Captain Marvel is shaping up to be another success story for the folks at Marvel Studios – save for those ridiculous trolls who are trying to review bomb the standalone MCU outing. Our advice? Pay them no mind and go see the pic for yourself.
