One Of Captain Marvel’s Deleted Scenes Has Been Revealed

With Captain Marvel now in theaters, fans have been looking back on the various promotional material for Carol Danvers’ solo debut and working out how it all fits into the film itself, or in some cases, doesn’t. Reddit user FradiTomi, for instance, has unearthed an old still released by Entertainment Weekly that was seemingly taken from a deleted scene. And since we’re going to be discussing the sequence here, a few spoilers lie ahead.

The resurfaced image sees the Starforce team crossing paths with future Guardians of the Galaxy villain Ronan the Accuser. As it turns out, not only does this shot never feature in the final cut, but Ronan is never even seen in the same room as the members of Starforce, with his role essentially being cut down to a glorified cameo.

Interestingly, a Reddit user named BrandonAUS claimed in the comments section to have worked on the VFX for a sequence that sees Roman speaking with the Supreme Intelligence before setting off to find Carol and the Tesseract. On top of that, the user added that the scenes between Carol and the Supreme Intelligence were heavily cut down, and that there’s also a deleted sequence where Yon-Rogg visits the Supreme Intelligence and sees it as the person he admires the most: himself.

Presumably, we’ll get some confirmation on BrandonAUS’s claims somewhere down the line, and may even see this unused footage one day, but in the meantime, the version of Captain Marvel that made it to theaters is faring very well with filmgoers. On it first weekend, the movie has managed to take in $153 million domestically, placing it ahead of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Thor: Ragnarok and every other MCU solo debut save for Black Panther. Of course, you can expect Carol’s next movie to make even bigger numbers when Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26th.
