We’re just over five weeks away from seeing the release of Avengers: Endgame, and right now, the fans have little more than rumors and theories to go on for the plot of the movie. But for what it’s worth, one of Marvel’s True Believers reprints just might hold a few clues on the adventure to come.

Diamond Previews recently revealed that Avengers Forever #1 will be in shops on the week of Endgame’s release. And while the very fact that it’s an Avengers story might be reason enough for Marvel Comics to put a spotlight on the issue, fans have been speculating that the reprint may tell us a thing or two about the events of Endgame.

The Avengers Forever limited series ran from December 1998 to November 1999, and featured a time travel storyline where heroes from different periods gathered together to stop a sinister plot from Kang the Conqueror. So, what’s any of this got to do with the Avengers: Infinity War sequel? Maybe nothing, but it’s perhaps worth noting that a time travel plot has long been one of the most popular predictions around the upcoming film, suggesting that the movie just might have drawn some inspiration from the limited series.

Either way, the time travel theory seems to find more evidence with each passing month, the most convincing of all probably being those old set photos that show the team revisiting the Battle of New York from 2012’s The Avengers. The plot device could certainly be a fitting way to reflect on the first eleven years of the superhero saga, but we’ll find out if the speculation has it right when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
