Here’s How Deadpool Could Be Brought Into The MCU

After all, it was recently reported by THR that the Merc with a Mouth will be the only X-Men universe character who won’t be recast post-merger. Moreover, given how much momentum the Deadpool series has right now, Disney won’t want to leave us waiting too long for the next installment. And should the Mouse House intend to bring Wade Wilson into the MCU, a new post from Reddit offers a suggestion for how they might do it: just pretend he’s always been there.

To elaborate, user Unusedreddit observes how the climax of the first Deadpool film takes place on a damaged helicarrier, much like the one that crashed in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. On top of that, the fourth wall-breaking hero has already mentioned a few MCU characters, including Thanos, Black Widow and Hawkeye. It’s therefore argued that it wouldn’t be much of a stretch for Marvel to retcon the first two Deadpool movies into their own cinematic universe, perhaps after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

Of course, one of the biggest issues with this suggestion is that the Deadpool series is already a well-established part of the X-Men universe, complete with cameos from franchise stars like James McAvoy’s Professor X. Bringing the first two Deadpool movies into the MCU would therefore require integrating the wider X-Men universe as well, which Marvel Studios almost certainly couldn’t pull off even if they wanted to.

Besides, given the meta-humor of the Deadpool films, introducing Wade to the MCU could be as simple as starting off his next film in his new cinematic universe and the fans probably wouldn’t question it. Let’s not forget that this is a character who’s long been able to get away with breaking the rules of continuity. But before we find out how the Merc fits into Disney’s future plans, Marvel will first be bringing the current MCU era to a close when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
