Chris Evans Says That Iron Man Kills Captain America In Avengers: Endgame

After Iron Man and Captain America spent the entirety of Avengers: Infinity War in separate corners of the MCU, fans are currently hoping to see an emotional reunion between the pair in next month’s Avengers: Endgame. But instead of the two heroes making up after their clash in Captain America: Civil War, what if their dispute continues, and Tony Stark ends up taking the life of The First Avenger?

But instead of the two heroes making up after their clash in Captain America: Civil War, what if their dispute continues, and Tony Stark ends up taking the life of The First Avenger?

That’s the scenario suggested by actor Chris Evans in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. The moment came after the star admitted to only having seen the first hour of Endgame. When the interviewer asked if he’d watched up to the point where Cap dies, Evans jokingly implied that this was correct, before proposing a tragic conclusion to Stark and Steve Rogers’ rocky friendship.

“Right, exactly,” Evans said. “After I die by Tony’s hand, I just said, You know what? I can’t watch this.”

While it probably goes without saying that Evans is only kidding, it’s still a very popular prediction that Cap’s journey will meet a sad end in next month’s release. At the very least, it feels like a safe bet that Endgame will serve as the character’s swan song, and the same can probably be said of his friend Tony. After all, both Evans and Robert Downey Jr.’s contracts are expected to expire with this next movie, and as the MCU moves into a new era, it’s assumed that a few stars will vacate their spots in order to let some new heroes enter the fray.

In any case, we’ll find out if and how Steve meets his demise when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
