Star Trek: Discovery has already been renewed for a third season over at CBS. After its rookie outing was met with mixed reviews and fan reaction, it’s widely agreed upon that the show has finally found its groove this year, earning much praise from critics thanks to an engaging, exhilarating season that continues to pull back viewers week after week.

However, just like season 1 before it, Discovery‘s latest run has left fans with a lot of questions, especially in regards to the already established continuity. According to producer Alex Kurtzman, however, there’s no need to worry, as by the time the credits roll on the finale, everything will be answered.

Speaking during a panel last weekend at PaleyFest LA, here’s what he had to say:

We are entirely aware of everyone’s questions and criticisms; I’ve read everything, and I see where everyone’s like, ‘Well, the spore drive never existed!’ and ‘What, Discovery was never around!’ and all of those things, we’re totally aware. You will get an answer.

That’s certainly reassuring to hear, and we have no reason to doubt him. After all, season 1 also created a ton of questions amongst the fanbase that were all resolved – for the most part – by the time it concluded. And besides, even if this latest run does leave a few lingering issues, is that really such a bad thing? I mean, we already know that Discovery will return for season 3.

In any case, despite the cancellation of the Kelvinverse films after a pay dispute with stars Chris Hemsworth and Chris Pine, the future’s still looking pretty rosy for Star Trek at the moment and with Discovery set to return tonight with its next episode, before things conclude on April 18th, we can’t wait to see what Kurtzman and his team have planned for us. Even if we’re a bit sad about having to say goodbye to Captain Pike in the finale.
